Lee’s Summit Parks and Recreation is a fully-accredited, National Gold Medal award-winning department offering a full range of quality facilities and services. The system is comprised of 1,100 scenic acres of park land spread out over 26 parks from as small as a ¼ acre to over 700 acres. There are three community centers, 6o miles of greenway/trails, 22 playgrounds, two skate parks, a dog park, water park and 43 irrigated and lighted high-quality sports fields for softball, football, baseball, soccer, sand volleyball and adult softball. 3,200 volunteers are involved in the hundreds of programs that are offered every season. Over 400,000 patrons use the three community centers each year. In addition to the promotion of health and wellness within the community, Parks & Recreation collaborates with other local partners to promote cultural activities in the community.
Downtown Lee’s Summit has been named one of the Top 5 Main Streets in the nation. This vibrant central business district offers a mix of specialty shops and restaurants, compatible residential development, and the state’s No. 1 Farmers Market. Downtown Lee’s Summit Main Street also hosts dozens of special events year-round.
