Truman Medical Center Charitable Foundation Kicks Off Capital Campaign; Names Honorary Chairs
During the December meeting of the Lakewood Philanthropy Board of Directors, the Truman Medical Center (TMC) Charitable Foundation launched Hello Baby!: the final phase of an $8.6 million capital campaign to raise the remaining $4 million necessary to complete the relocation and expansion of the Lakewood Family Birthplace. The Foundation also announced that prominent community leaders Jean and Carl Chinnery, along with Betty and Bud Hertzog will serve as honorary chairs of the Hello Baby! campaign.
"Thanks to the generous support of our donors and longtime supporters of TMC, the initial phase of construction is complete and we are nearly half-way to our final goal," said Carl Chinnery, honorary campaign chair.
Expansion plans for the 19,290 square foot Lakewood Family Birthplace - which will be conveniently located on the first floor of the hospital, easily accessible from the main entrance and the Emergency Department - include 19 new Labor/Delivery/Recovery/Post-Partum (LDRP) rooms, two new operating/C-section rooms, an upgraded four-bed patient triage area and a large nursery with a separate isolation area for privacy or sick babies.
"The Hello Baby! capital campaign will allow us to purchase the latest technology and highest quality medical equipment for the nursery and 19 LDRP rooms," said Bud Hertzog, D.V.M., and honorary campaign chair. "But we can't do it alone, so we are asking for assistance from the community to raise the final $4 million needed to complete the project."
"I'd like to extend an open invitation for anyone in Eastern Jackson County to tour the TMC Lakewood Family Birthplace to see firsthand TMC's commitment to delivering outstanding healthcare to everyone - especially babies," Chinnery added.
