The International Economic Development Council (IEDC) will recognize the Lee's Summit Economic Development Council (LSEDC) with an honorable mention for its exceptional annual report at the IEDC Annual Conference, in Reno, Nevada, on October 6.
Competing in the category of Annual Report by organizations serving areas with populations between 50,000 and 200,000, LSEDC made a notable impression with its Upward & Outward 2007-2008 Annual Report. The document was released at the organization's annual meeting in July 2008. Designed and written by LSEDC's marketing and public relations partner, candid marketing, the annual report is a year in review for the organization that serves the vibrant community of 90,000 in Lee's Summit. It outlines the organization's four focal points, and includes a "fast facts" section along the bottom of each spread, making it easy to quickly glean highlights and information. The report includes both tangible and intangible results LSEDC delivered during the 2007-2008 fiscal year.
"Furthering economic development is rarely a simple task in the best of times, and advancing the cause in the midst of a global financial crisis is nothing less than arduous," said Ian Bromley, IEDC chair. "As the consequences of the widespread economic turmoil have taken hold, we have seen our members become even more ardent proponents of economic development, flying in the face of one of the most challenging economic environments we have experienced in our careers.
