For the second time this month, the Lee's Summit Economic Development Council (LSEDC) will be recognized by its peers in economic development. At a luncheon held today in Columbia, the Missouri Economic Development Council (MEDC) presented LSEDC with a 2009 Excellence Award in the Premiums/Mementos category for a USB Flash Drive Pen containing LSEDC's 2008-2009 Virtual Annual Report, which was developed by LSEDC's marketing and public relations partner, candid.
In an effort to save printing costs and to do something different, LSEDC's 2008 - 2009 Annual Report was distributed at the organization's annual meeting on a USB drive that doubles as a pen. Investors simply had to plug in the USB drive into their computer and a PDF of the Annual Report was available to download.
"By winning awards for outstanding marketing and outreach materials, we continue to elevate Lee's Summit's position within the economic development community regionally and nationally - which is one of our four focal points," says Jim Devine, President and CEO of LSEDC. "We were up against tough competition from other large economic development organizations in St. Louis, Chesterfield and Independence, so it is a high compliment for Lee's Summit to be recognized with an award from MEDC."
