Caremark Rx Inc., a pharmaceutical services company, plans to add about 200 employees at its Lee's Summit call center over the next six months.
The additional hires will boost Caremark's employment at the center to about 400. The center has the capacity to employ 500.
"Supported by the local infrastructure and talent base, over the last two years this call center has proven to be a highly efficient operation, and I am pleased to announce that we will now be expanding our local presence in Kansas City," said A. D. Frazier, Caremark's president and chief operating officer.
The jobs to be added include a call center director, managers, and customer service representatives.
Caremark, with headquarters in Birmingham, Ala., provides comprehensive drug benefit services to more than 1,200 health plan sponsors and their participants throughout the United States.
Caremark is publicly traded under the ticker symbol CMX. Caremark stock closed Thursday at $25.01, up 96 cents.
Caremark's Lee's Summit call center is at 800 N. W. Chipman Road, in the Summit Technology Campus.
Workers at the call center respond to inquiries in areas such as plan design information, drug coverage, utilization history, eligibility status, claim status and retail pharmacy locations.
