Lee’s Summit North High School was among just 29 high schools in Missouri to be included in U.S. News and World Report’s “America’s Best High Schools” ranking. Lee’s Summit North is also among just four Kansas City metropolitan-area high schools recognized through the national magazine.
According to the national magazine, U.S. News and World Report developed this first-ever ranking to determine which high schools would be chosen as “most likely to succeed.” The ranking of “America’s Best High Schools” focuses on how high schools prepare students to achieve their post-graduation goals.
Using a formula produced in collaboration with School Evaluation Services, a data research and analysis business run by Standard and Poor’s the publication placed high schools through a three-step analysis. The evaluation measured how each school’s students performed on state tests, examined how well each school’s disadvantaged students did and looked at whether the school was successful in providing college-level coursework.
The 100 top performing schools in this analysis earned gold medals. The next 405 schools were awarded silver medals, and an additional 1,086 schools earned bronze. Lee’s Summit North High school was among 27 bronze-level winners in Missouri. Additional information is available at www.schoolmatters.com.
