Lee’s Summit Ranks 79 of 100 Small Cities in America
LEE’S SUMMIT, MO (July 14, 2008) — Today, Money Magazine announced its 2008 Best Places to Live, and Lee’s Summit made the list. One of only four Missouri cities recognized — and the only one on the Eastern side of the Kansas City metro — Lee’s Summit ranks 79 out of 100 best small cities in the United States.
“We are thrilled that our community has been acknowledged by a national publication like Money,” says Lee’s Summit Mayor Karen Messerli. “Ranking in the top 100 small cities in the country reinforces our efforts to create and maintain a vibrant, growing community.”
To be named one of America's 100 best places to live, the city must offer plentiful jobs, excellent schools and affordable housing. “Being named to this prestigious list validates the fact that Lee’s Summit is a great place to live, work, play and learn,” adds Jim Devine, President and CEO of the Lee’s Summit Economic Development Council.
“Everyone in the Kansas City metropolitan area — and throughout the state — knows Lee’s Summit is a wonderful place to have a business, live and raise your family. Now everyone in the country will see it as well,” says Nancy Bruns, President of the Lee’s Summit Chamber of Commerce.
