Workforce Overview

Lee's Summit's strategic location in the path of regional growth insures a plentiful, diverse workforce. According to the Wadley Donovan Group, eighty percent (80%) of the workforce resides within a 30-minute commute shed. A study completed by the Pathfinders, Dallas, TX, found that in addition to the 12,000 unemployed, approximately 63,000 people can be identified as underemployed: those individuals who would take a better job if offered. According to this same study, over 14,900 workers in Lee's Summit would take a better job for less than $9.99 per hour. In a study, The Eastern Jackson County Missouri Wage and Benefits Survey, The Pathfinders surveyed 38 firms which employed over 11,000 workers. The survey reports a variety of workforce demographics including turnover, shifts worked, and wage information for 65 SIC job title, as well as, benefit practices.
