An EIDL is a long-term, direct loan from the Small Business Administration. Unlike the Payment Protection Program, EIDL does not go through a third party lender. EIDL is a low-interest loan, which is not eligible for forgiveness. In March of 2021, the federal government increased the maximum loan to $500,000.
