The shovels were heavy today for the big groundbreaking ceremony at the new Summit Technology Academy/Missouri Innovation Campus.
Dr. David McGehee with Lee’s Summit R-7 School District, Dr. Chuck Ambrose, University of Central Missouri and Governor Jay Nixon all took to the podium with excitement. Governor Nixon has been a strong supporter for this vision since it’s inception almost five years ago. Having him present today was an important milestone for the community.
Many other community leaders were in attendance for this special event including Dr. Kirk Nooks with MCC – Longview (another huge partner in this program), Mayor Randy Rhoads and LSEDC Chairman, Bill Brown – all ready to move some dirt.
Final construction is slated to be complete August 2017.
“Thank you to the Lee’s Summit Economic Development Council, the City of Lee’s Summit and its Development Center as well as the City staff, the Mayor and City Council for the collaborative culture that makes today possible.” – Dr. David McGehee, Lee’s Summit R-7 School District
