The Lee’s Summit Economic Development Council is celebrating National Economic Development Week May 9-15th. Now in its sixth year, National Economic Development Week was created by the International Economic Development Council, the largest professional membership organization for economic developers, in 2016 to recognize the unique role that economic development has in creating vibrant communities with strong economies.
“National Economic Development Week is our opportunity to celebrate the behind-the-scenes work that helps make our community an ideal place to live, work, and play,” said Lee’s Summit Economic Development Council President & CEO Rick McDowell.
This year the Lee’s Summit Economic Development Council is launching a video series featuring staff and board members that will explain the contributions that strong economic development makes in our community. The series will be launched on our YouTube and social media pages throughout the weeklong celebration.
In addition to the online video series, Lee’s Summit Mayor Bill Baird will make a proclamation recognizing May 9-15, 2021 as Economic Development Week in the city.
