Lee’s Summit is home to the Summit Technology Campus (STC) and the Lee’s Summit Integration Campus (LSIC), which combined offer one million square feet of space that is designed to handle the fast-growing information technology industry. The LSIC, 500,000-square-foot tech hub owned by Cerner, offers a dual grid substation with two full-capacity feeds, underground feeds and the potential for tenant-operated generators. Companies have a choice of network providers including AT&T, Spectrum, Quest, Level3, and Bluebird Network. Lee’s Summit is growing quickly within the information technology field. The computer systems design service industry showed a 40 percent job growth increase from 2012 to 2017.

Workforce Education
Through a one-of-a-kind collaboration with the Lee’s Summit R-7 school district, local colleges and universities and industry leaders, Lee’s Summit strives to create a competitive, highly-trained workforce beginning from post-secondary education through a four-year degree. Lee’s Summit is home to numerous educational institutions that offer advanced training for IT professionals.
- Summit Technology Academy is a nationally-recognized, career-focused academy that prepares students for the professional workforce. STA offers a designated program focused on Computer Science. Students get career exposure to Software Development, Network Engineering and Cyber Security beginning their junior year of high school.
- Metropolitan Community College - Longview in Lee's Summit offers an Associate Degree in Computer Science and certifications in Software Development, Computer and User Support, Network and Systems Support and Secure Systems Administration & Engineering. For established industry workers, Longview provides continuing education and professional development for information technology.
- The University of Central Missouri Lee's Summit campus offers Bachelor’s degrees in Computer Information Systems, Big Data Analytics and Information Technology and Computer Science, all of which are offered in a variety of specified focuses. In addition, the UCM system offers Master’s Degrees in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science and Cyber Security & Information Assurance. For established professionals, UCM also offers a variety of continuing education and professional certificates.

Lee’s Summit is 16 miles southeast of downtown Kansas City and is one of the fastest-growing communities in the state of Missouri. With a current population of 99,290, the city offers companies and residents a thriving local economy, award-winning schools, nimble workforce and training programs, plentiful public and private investment, diverse housing stock and coveted community lifestyle amenities.
